Privacy and Confidentiality Policy

Last updated: May 16, 2026

This project is a personal, experimental, and free project operated on a best-effort basis. By using this website, service, API, station, or related features, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Information we may collect

We may collect limited information required to operate the service, including:

  • account information, such as username, email address, or login details;
  • station information, such as station name, station identifier, sensor data, location data if provided, and technical status;
  • technical logs, such as IP address, browser/device information, API requests, errors, and security logs;
  • any information voluntarily submitted by the user.

The goal is to operate the project, improve reliability, debug problems, prevent abuse, and display weather/station data.

2. Public and shared data

Weather observations, station names, approximate station locations, sensor readings, and related station data may be displayed publicly or made available through the service.

Do not submit information that you consider private, confidential, sensitive, or dangerous to publish.

3. We do not sell personal data

We do not sell personal information.

We do not sell user accounts, email addresses, personal profiles, private technical logs, or private user information to advertisers, brokers, or third parties.

4. Free project / best-effort service

This service is provided for free as a hobby/personal project.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” There is no guarantee that the service will always work, that data will always be accurate, that data will always be available, or that the service will be free of bugs, outages, security problems, or data loss.

Use the service at your own risk.

5. Security

Reasonable efforts are made to protect the service and its data, including technical and administrative safeguards where practical.

However, no website, server, API, database, or internet-connected system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Security incidents, hacking, data loss, unauthorized access, software bugs, hardware failure, or human error may occur.

By using the service, you understand and accept this risk.

6. No guarantee of data accuracy

Sensor data, weather observations, location data, and technical readings may be wrong, incomplete, delayed, corrupted, or affected by faulty hardware, calibration problems, user configuration, network problems, or software bugs.

The data is provided for informational and recreational purposes only. It should not be used for safety-critical, medical, legal, aviation, emergency, commercial, or life-critical decisions.

7. Limitation of responsibility

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of this project is not responsible for:

  • loss of data;
  • incorrect or missing weather data;
  • downtime or service interruption;
  • account compromise caused by weak passwords or user-side security issues;
  • hardware damage or configuration mistakes;
  • indirect, incidental, or consequential damages;
  • reliance on inaccurate sensor or weather information.

Nothing in this policy limits obligations that cannot legally be excluded.

8. Data retention

Some data may be kept as long as needed to operate the service, maintain historical weather records, debug problems, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations.

Technical logs may be deleted or rotated periodically. Account and station data may remain stored until removed by the user or administrator, where technically possible.

9. Data breach

If a security incident occurs, reasonable efforts will be made to investigate, limit the damage, and take appropriate action.

Where legally required, affected users or authorities may be notified.

10. Third-party services

The service may rely on third-party providers such as hosting providers, DNS providers, email providers, analytics tools, map providers, API services, or infrastructure services.

These providers may process limited technical information as needed to provide their services.

11. User responsibility

Users are responsible for:

  • keeping their login credentials secure;
  • not submitting private or sensitive information unnecessarily;
  • ensuring that their station hardware is safe and properly configured;
  • complying with applicable laws;
  • deciding whether this free project is suitable for their use.

12. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The updated version will be posted on the website with a new “Last updated” date.

Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
